Do not be scared of DIY (Do It Yourself)

Many people now create and make their own holidays with the DIY approach. They reap the savings and get the holiday that they want, not what is on offer.

Choosing and booking a DIY holiday could not be easier.

1. Look for flights that suit you, or suit your price range.

2. Search for hotels and apartments, in the area you want.

3. Book your airport transfer.

Hotels and Apartments

It is easier than you think. With companies websites Sunshine.co.uk and Alpharooms, all three, flights, hotels and  transfers can be sought and booked in one place and usually saving you a packet compared to booking a traditional package through your travel agent. True you may not get your in-flight meal (which you will be charged extra for) but then with flights to Reus at under two hours...

The benefits inlcude:
  • Save money!
  • Get the flights that suit you
  • The dates that you want. (Not everyone wants to fly at 6:30am on a Tuesday)
Now that you have saved your money you can enjoy a bit more on holiday, maybe a trip or two to one of the many attractions. BUY TICKETS

Buying tickets before you go also can help you spread your budget for a holiday throughout the year, rather than having to fork out for tickets from your spending money while on holiday.

So do not settle for second best, get the holidays that YOU want.

Family Holidays to Spain

Many families look to their first holiday abroad with children with certain trepidation, and with good reason. Long flights, tired children, strange food, airport queues and hot sunshine can easily speall disaster.

With careful choice of destination and a little planning there is no reason why a family with young children cannot enjoy a holiday in the sun.

Salou is a resort in the Costa Dorada (Golden Coast) region of Spain. A resort that fits especially well with families and children of ALL ages.

With a short flight time from the UK to (Reus Airport) Salou of about one and a half hours, and a transfer time to the resort of about 15 minutes by taxi, this cuts down the amount of travelling time usually assocaited with holidays abroad and makes a good way of testing the water.

Once in the resort itself, you will be presented with glorious sandy beaches that are cleaned daily and shelving gently into the Mediterranean sea making safe, fun bathing. All along the beach itself are many facilities for refreshments with the usual ice-creams, drinks and snack food.

Also along the beach are many play areas, slides, swings, climbing frames which the children seem to make good use of.

The palm tree lined promenade has a very wide walkway shielded from the main roads making it very easy to get around the resort.

Salou has the usual mix of cafes and restaraunts and bar serving every type of food and most the usual English food and good childrens menus.

A visit to Salou is not complete without a trip to the PortAventura theme park which is a few minutes bus / taxi ride from the resort. PortAventura is for everyone not just the kids!, the theme park has rides and shows of all types, from white knuckle roller coasters to gentle scenic railways. CLICK HERE FOR DISCOUNT TICKETS

Public transport around the resort runs between Salou, Cambrils and La Pineda every few minutes and cost just a few euro's.

For a break from Salou, hop of the bus (or take a boat trip) to Cambrils, a more relaxing fishing port a few miles along the coast from Salou and with a much gentler pace. Cambrils has a lovely marina and some of the best restaraunts around, especially for sea food. There is also a nice park with play areas for different aged children.
