Salou, Cambrils and La Pineda out of season

There is no denying it that come mid October the tourist areas of Salou, Cambrils and La Pineda begin to close, by the end of October it is quiet. But what makes a gorgeous site is the deserted beaches , the golden sand and warm sunshine.

The picture above is from early March in Salou, I myself was expecting grey cloud, drizzle and a chilling wind. What I was welcomed with was warm sunshine and the beach to ourselves.

It is true there was not a lot open, but enough bars and cafes to keep me fed and watered. We stayed at the Hotel Caspel and this proved great, with good food, bar and a nice indoor pool.

It is also worth noting the PortAventura theme park is open out of season with themes for both Halloween and Christmas, after Christmas the park closes until late March.

It may not be for everyone and children especially may find the resorts a little boring, but our 7 year old found plenty to do, including plenty of football on the beach with some locals.

The bars and cafes we did find open were found to be very friendly and most welcoming which is probably why so many cold beers and hot cappucinos were consumed on our stay.

When the weather is nice it is great to explore the local countryside and hiring a car could prove useful and one thing for sure it will be easier to park than it is in August.

Halloween PortAventura - 27th September until 16th November

From 27th September 2008 to 16th November 2008 PortAventura become transformed bringing your nightmares to life. The dark side takes over with its ghouls, ghosts and other nasty inhabitants... keep an eye over your shoulder!!!





You can hear the screams echo through the PortAventura park. At the Hotel burn, it's dark secret is unearthed. Can you sleep? will you sleep?





The shops are full of ghoulish goodies to transform yourself and maybe get one back on the zombies lurking around the park.





It is not all nasty though kids will love being able to 'trick or treat' at the PortAventura houses, the sweets are ready to be claimed... go on don't be scared.. knock....if you dare.





The next day when you have recovered you can still get some of that gorgeous med sunshine on the 'not so crowded beaches, unless you wish to return to the PortAventura park for another helping of scariness.

PortAventura - Halloween 2008

It is near that time again, the time when PortAventura is transformed in a specatacular fashion for Halloween.

Now it will not only be the rides that scare you. Dare you enter.

Halloween at PortAventura takes place between the months of October and November, and is a spectacle not to miss. Watch out! for the ghouls, ghosts and zombies roaming the park (as well as a multitude of other unsavoury characters).

Hear the blood curdling screams and see the scenes of horror. OK so the adults will think the 'Kids will love it'... but kids, just take a look at the adult faces as they are set upon.
